Daria Gavrilova and Jan-Lennard Struff have been named as top seeds in the women’s and men’s qualifying events for the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, which starts at the Foro Italico on Saturday.

Australia’s Gavrilova, who is only in qualifying as she forgot to enter the main draw, faces a tough opener against Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich on Court 2, while Struff will play Taro Daniel in the first match on Court 4.

Denis Istomin and Italian wild card Andrea Pellegrino open proceedings on Pietrangeli, a court which also features former world No. 9 Nicolas Almagro and American youngster Catherine Bellis.

Former top 10 player Kevin Anderson gets his quest for a place in the main draw underway with a match against Italy’s Luca Vanni on Court 1 while Mona Barthel, who has already won a clay court title this year, will meet Greece’s Maria Sakkari. Other familiar faces in qualifying include Andrea Petkovic, Ashleigh Barty and doubles star Pierre-Hugues Herbert. Players need two wins to secure a place in the main draw.
