Garbine Muguruza is hoping for a successful week at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia as she looks to recreate the kind of form that saw her win the Roland Garros title last year.

The Spaniard has suffered opening round defeats at Stuttgart and Madrid but is not unduly worried about her lack of success on clay so far this season.

“I’m feeling well physically. I think it’s just maybe not a very good two tournaments, but I’m not very worried about that. I think I will figure my level back again,” said the world No. 4.

“I’m practicing well. I’m trying to practice actually a lot, and I think my level is there. It’s just finding the right moment and to do the same on the match, because sometimes can be different.”

Muguruza is confident that she can return to her best and challenge for the title this week and in Paris.

“Last year I remember I played quite well here, so I hope this year I can do something similar. I think in clay I played very well, and, yeah, I could be one of the girls that could play good also because I grew up playing on clay, so maybe I feel a little bit more familiar with that.”

Muguruza, who reached the semifinals here in 2016, will open her campaign at the Foro Italico against either Shelby Rogers or qualifier Jelena Ostapenko.
