It will be a high level clash the one that will decide the winner of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia ATP Masters 1000: Daniil Medvedev, world number 3, against Holger Run, number 7.
Medvedev got his ticket to the final by defeating Stefanos Tstitsipas for the 8th time in 12 matches, taking revenge of the loss at Roland Garros two years ago. This goes to show the improvements of the 3rd seed on the surface.
Indeed, Medvedev had played three times before in Rome and always lost in his opening round. What a difference he made this year! He only dropped a set in 5 matches, reaching 38 wins this season, 19 of which coming at ATP Masters 1000. He will play his ninth final at this level, having won five already. His only ever final on clay came in 2019 in Barcelona, when he lost to Dominic Thiem.
Rune, on the contrary, will play his 3rd Masters 1000 final with 1-1 record: at Paris Bercy he defeated Novak Djokovic, while not long ago he lost a rollercoaster match to Andrey Rublev in Montecarlo.
