1841: With the end of the first round matches today, we will bring an end our live text coverage. We will be back on Monday lunchtime to guide you through the remaining first round ties here from Foro Italico. Good night and ciao! 1836: Hold that thought. Just as it looked as if Davydenko was firmly back in it, Granollers breaks for a 5-4 lead and then serves out for the match. Granollers will take on Andy Murray in the second round. 1820: Stirring fightback from Davydenko who immediately breaks Granollers back and then holds serve to lead 4-3 in the second set. 1815: It looks like being the match for Granollers. He won the first set 6-3 and now is 3-2 up with the break in the second set. What has Davydenko got left? 1738: Victory for Dimitrov over Baghdatis 6-3, 6-4 and he will now take on Richard Gasquet who had an equally impressive day today. That’s the end of the action on Centrale. The final men’s first rounder of the day is on Supertennis where Granollers has the early advantage over Davydenko, 4-2 to the Spaniard in the first set thus far. 1656: Anderson has wrapped up the match. 6-1, 6-2 the comfortable outcome against Melzer. Next up for the South African is Marin Cilic or a qualifier. And next up on Supertennis is the final match of the day, Nikolay Davydenko against Marcel Granollers. The Spaniard won the only previous meeting between the two in Madrid in 2011. 1652: A cruise-a-thon for Kevin Anderson. He is one game from the match having eased to a 6-1 first set advantage on Jurgen Melzer and it’s now 5-2 in the second set. Over on Centrale, the highly rated Dimitrov has won the first set 6-3 against Baghdatis. 1601: More like it from Querry in the second set but the American loses a titanic tiebreak 10-8 and Gasquet has the match in straight sets. The winner of the next match between Marcos Baghdatis and Grigor Dimitrov awaits the Frenchman. 1557: Next up on Supertennis is Kevin Anderson against Jurgen Melzer and already the South African has a 3-0 lead in the first set with two breaks of serve. Anderson won the last meeting between the pair in Vienna two years ago and it is 1-1 on the head-to-head. 1546: Istomin is through. He has beaten Isner 6-3 in the final set and will face Tomas Berdych in the second round. 1509: It’s Istomin’s match to lose now. He is 4-1 up in the final set with Isner on the brink. Gasquet wraps up the first set with a second break 6-2 and made that look fairly easy. 1452: Isner and Istomin is going all the way. The latter takes the second set tiebreak 7-5 and we are at one set all. Gasquet is, err, cooking on gas as they say, breaking Querrey for a 4-2 first set lead. 1434: Next up on Centrale, we have Sam Querrey of America against Richard Gasquet of France, which is arguably the match of the day. Querrey has won the only match between the pair, also on clay, in Monte Carlo five years ago. It was a three setter this time and it could go a similar distance this time. 1431: Alexandr Dolgopolov is the first player through to the second round here in Rome (excluding the very top seeds who have byes). The Ukrainian has beaten Matteo Viola in two comfortable sets 6-4, 6-3 and will now play a qualifier or Stan Wawrinka in the second round. There has been a mild shock in qualifying with the exit of Lukas Rosol, the top qualifying seed, in straight sets to Andrey Kuznetsov. 1355: Isner breaks at just the right time to clinch the first set against Istomin 7-5. Over on Centrale, Italian hopes are fading fast. Dolgopolov has a break in the second set for 3-1 against Viola. 1341: At the moment it is not the start home fans wanted on Centrale. Italian wild card has lost the first set 6-4 up against Dolgopolov. We are with serve on Supertennis with Isner leading Istomin 5-4, looking quite a battle that one. The sun has come out and it is reasonably hot in the early 20 degrees. 1228: First matches on court are Italian wild card Matteo Viola, making his first appearance in the tournament against Ukraine’s Alexandr Dolgopolov. That’s on Centrale. On Supertennis Arena we have John Isner, the American, up against Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin. It’s 1-1 on the head-to-head, Istomin winning in Memphis this year. 1200: Ciao and welcome to our live coverage of Internazionali BNL d’Italia. I’m Ian Baker and you can tweet me your comments and questions to @ianbakersport. Men’s action starts at 1pm local time. We have six men’s first round ties today, a reminder that women’s first round action starts on Monday.
