Nadal to open his Rome Masters defence against Gilles Simon

This content was published 8 years ago. It may refer to a past edition of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

Rafa Nadal will play Gilles Simon when he begins his defence of the Rome Masters.
World no.1 Nadal comes to Foro Italico on the back of winning the Madrid Masters.
The king of clay will face Frenchman Simon in the second round after being awarded a first-round bye as defending champion and top seed.
If the Internazionali BNL d’Italia goes to seed then Nadal will meet Wimbledon and US Open winner Andy Murray – who faces Spain’s Marcel Granollers on day three.
However, Murray may have bad memories of Granollers after he had to withdraw in his match against him last year with a back injury.
