The 2011 Internazionali BNL d’Italia has broken its attendance record for a single session. On Wednesday afternoon, with the likes of Rafael Nadal and Ana Ivanovic playing as well as Novak Djokovic, Jelena Jankovic and Sam Stosur all in the same session, the paid attendance was no less than 16,656 (12,979 individual tickets and 3,677 multiple entry passes).

This broke the previous record established in 2010, when 15,908 people attended the first Wednesday of the tournament 28 April.
