Angelo Binaghi, President of the Italian Tennis Federation: “It is a historic milestone we have been chasing for a long time: it had escaped us twice in the past at the very last moment but now, finally, we have got it. The upgrade of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia represents a result that can change the history of tennis in our country. It’s a further recognition of the great organizational ability that the Italian Tennis Federation has shown organizing great events year after year. It’s the confirmation that the Italian system – made of collaboration with partners of great expertise and passion such as “Sport e Salute”, as well as the constant and effective support assured by the Department of Sport of the Italian government – really works. I take this opportunity to thank the ATP President, Andrea Gaudenzi: I am sure that, as an Italian, he will be proud to see how this tournament has grown. The Internazionali BNL d’Italia are the flagship of our tennis, their growth will also benefit our commercial and media partners, giving further impetus to the tennis movement in our country. Furthermore, the chances for our players to stand out and gain experience will increase, accelerating the virtuous circle that is producing a generation of tennis players at the highest levels in the world. At least for a day, let us enjoy the satisfaction of having achieved this goal: from tomorrow on, we’ll be back to work to prepare a tournament that the whole world envies us”.
Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP President: “The growth of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, as other ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, represents a milestone for the ATP circuit. Our long-term strategic vision aims to raise the level of our premium offer and the experience of tennis fans throughout the season. We are thrilled to be able to offer even more action in these events from next year and many more opportunities for our players”.

For “Sport e Salute”, FIT partner in the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, to have the confirmation of the good organization and quality of the tournament is a reason of pride, as it does the beauty of a magical place like the Foro Italico”.
