The world’s best tennis and a full house: the Foro Italico is going to finally live the best possible combination as the start to the 79th edition of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia is only moments away. The undersecretary to the premiership with sports mandate, Valentina Vezzali, spoke about the importance of the return of fans after two years of restrictions due to the pandemic: “the 2022 edition marks the return to normality following two very difficult years. Tennis has been the sport that responded the best with a high number of members and activities in spite of the situation. The fact that the turnament can finally return to full capacity is the best possible news and I am sure that the public will respond with its warmth and passion.”
Thanks to the pre-qualies that took place in the week anticipating the tournament, the event could live of an extra week of high quality tennis, emotions and passionate players and fans.

“I am particularly honoured”, admitted Vezzali: “that Italy is hosting every year, in the magical atmosphere of the Foro Italico, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. The pre-qualifications are a massive chance and motivation for all members of FIT to try and make a dream come true, by winning a Wild Card that allows them to play against the world’s best. I am complimenting the Federazione Italiana Tennis and its president Binaghi, because this tournament offers this amazing chance to many guys and girls that practice one of the most played and beloved sports in the country.”
