Caroline Wozniacki has withdrawn from the Rome Masters with a knee injury.
The No.14 seed announced her decision to pull out on Sunday morning.
Former world No.1 Wozniacki was due to play Italay’s Francesca Schiavone in the first round at Foro Italico.
“I am very disappointed not to be able to play in Rome this year as it is one of my favorite events of the year,” said the Dane.
“But I need think what’s best for my health moving forward for the remainder of the season.”
Eugenie Bouchard, the 17th seed, has been moved to play Schiavone with a qualifier or lucky loser to be drawn to face Japan’s Kurumi Nara.
