1519: Nine aces in two sets on clay is quite a feat. 41 winners is also another telling stat. Simply superb from Serena. Thanks for your company on WTA action this week. You can still catch the men’s final with us. Goodbye and ciao! 1517: Two aces as Serena serves the match out to love. A dominant and clinical display and won that proves she is comfortable world number one. Her 24th consecutive victory and she has simply blown away the world number three. Williams wins 6-1, 6-3 in an hour and 33 minutes. 1514: Oh no Vika. She looked like making it a tense finish to the second set at 40-15, but Serena’s winners are flowing. Then Azarenka double faults on break point and Serena will now serve for the match at 5-3. 1506: But Azarenka comes storming back with a fine game of returning herself, taking her first opportunity at 15-40 with a strong forehand that Serena cannot get back. 4-3 Williams. 1502: Just too good. Two dreamy returns from Serena present 15-40, Vika saves one but not the second, the American winning a long rally with a backhand crosscourt that the Belarusian cannot get back. Serena 4-2 and two games from the title. 1456: Serena not having things all her own way but she edges ahead holding serve from 30-30 for 3-2. 1452: Azarenka still fighting in there as she saves two break points to hold at 2-2. 1444: Azarenka is battling hard, giving everything for a way back in. She forces Serena back to deuce but the American is just too good. 2-1 she leads. 1439: Azarenka needed that, she holds for 1-1, saving a break point. She is still, just about, in this match. 1434: Too easy for Serena in the first game of the second set. Completely untroubled on her serve as she wins it to love. 1-0. 1429: First set Serena in 46 minutes, 6-1. Azarenka loses her cool at 0-30 with a bit of racquet throwing. She regains it to save two set points at 15-40, but buoyed by a lucky net cord next point, Serena snatches yet another break to wrap up the set. 1425: Serena continues her outstanding performance so far and then seems disappointed after she aces Azarenka for 40-15. 5-1 now. Vika to serve to stay in the set. 1419: That last game obviously left Serena reeling as she has just won the next game to love on the Vika serve, including a superb backhand return forcing shot at break point. 4-1 Williams. 1416: A fourth consecutive game goes to deuce. But this time Azarenka gets on the board at the third break point of asking as Serena is unable to return her forceful shot. 3-1 Williams. 1405: That will be 3-0 Serena. Some sublime returning leaving Azarenka in real trouble. Serena makes it 30-40 but fails with a sneaky drop shot. But next time she has the break point, Vika can only fire long. 1359: Difficult game for Serena, but perhaps of her own making. She was 40-0 when two unforced errors and a double fault set up deuce. A lengthy game followed which Serena came through. 1351: Serena breaks. An extraordinarily high standard in the opening game. Azarenka has a 40-15 lead but Williams comes back, Vika saving two breaks points but netting on the third to give Serena the advantage. 1343: Azarenka to serve first, let play begin! 1336: It’s one of the hottest days of the tournament. Sunny and 22 degrees. Players are out on the court. 1249: Serena has only dropped an incredible 10 games in Rome this year. She was still not happy yesterday, choosing to practice after help 6-3, 6-0 win over Simona Halep. 1248: Prediction time. Predictions to @ianbakersport. Mine: Serena in two.  1244: Hello, ciao, good afternoo and welcome to the women’s final here at the Foro Italico in Rome. Is Serena Williams unstoppable? 23 matches in a row she has won and has never been troubled at all in this year’s tournament. Williams will be looking to avenge her final defeat to Victoria Azarenka back in February in Doha. Serena has won 11 of their previous other 12 meetings. Azarenka has only ever won one clay court event, in 2011 in Marbella.
