Serena Williams says she won’t be thinking of revenge when she faces Ana Ivanovic.
The world no.1 breezed into the semi-final match after beating China’s Zhang Shuai 6-1 6-3.
And having lost out to Ivanovic in the Australia Open Williams says today’s showdown isn’t about getting her own back.
She said: “Whenever you play someone you lose to you’re not necessarily thinking about revenge, you’re thinking, ‘I really want to win because they beat me last time,’
“It’s more motivation than anything, because last time they got the best of you, and you want to show them you can play too.
“So I won’t necessarily be going for revenge, I’ll be going for the match.”
Ivanovic will return to the top 10 for the first time since 2009 if she can reach the final.
She added: “Serena has won a lot of tournaments on clay and she plays very well on every surface.
“She has done a lot for women’s tennis. It’s always challenging to face such a good player.”
