Ashleigh Barty and Demi Schuurs made their first tournament together a winning one when they triumphed at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, defeating No. 2 seeds Andrea Sestini Hlavackova and Barbora Strycova 6-3 6-4 in the final.

The No. 8 seeds were in impressive form in the title decider, battling from behind in both sets to claim victory over the Czech pairing in 75 minutes. The second set was particularly remarkable as they fought back from 0-4 down to claim six games in a row and win the title.

It was a second doubles title of the season for both players. Barty combined with CoCo Vandeweghe to lift the trophy in Miami while Schuurs was victorious in Brisbane with compatriot Kiki Bertens.
