Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah became the first South American pairing to win a Masters 1000 title when they overcame Pablo Carreno Busta and Joao Sousa 3-6 6-4 [10-4] to lift the trophy at the Internazionali BNL D’Italia.
The Colombian duo produced some impressive results this week at the Foro Italico, knocking out top seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo in straight sets in the quarterfinals and prevailing in a match tiebreak against No. 5 seeds Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the semis.
It was the third final of the year for the No. 6 seeds, who finished as runners-up at the Australian Open and in Buenos Aires, and marked their 11th team title.
