Roger Federer has given Stefanos Tsitsipas a walkover ahead of their quarter-final clash at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia due to a right leg injury.

The Swiss player was due to play No. 8 seed Tsitsipas in the third match on Court Centrale on Friday. The Greek player now advances to the semi-finals where he will play either defending champion Rafael Nadal or Fernando Verdasco.

“I am disappointed that I will not be able to compete today. I am not 100% physically and after consultation with my team, it was determined that I not play. Rome has always been one of my favorite cities to visit and I hope to be back next year,” said Federer.

Federer, a four-time finalist at the Italian Open, played two matches at the Foro Italico on Thursday, defeating Joao Sousa in the second round before saving three match points in his third round match against Borna Coric.
